Self Hypnosis Programs

There are many self hypnosis programs available online for all manner of issues. From common problems such as smoking cessation or weight loss to more obscure issues such as adrenaline addiction or tanorexia (addiction to getting a tan).

So how do you choose a self hypnosis program?

Where can you get Self Hypnosis Programs?

With so many programs available it's difficult to know which program to try. It's not as if high costs prevents anyone from developing their own recordings and them marketing either on the web or via iTunes, so there are a huge number of hypnotists providing their own recordings and almost no way to guarantee quality.

At PlanetNLP.com I only recommend HypnosisDownloads.com. Some of HypnosisDownloads.com recordings are listed in the top ten on the right hand side of this page, and there are many other specific recordings listed on my Hypnosis Downloads page, as well as recordings for specific issues on the relevant pages.

How do you choose a Self Hypnosis Program?

As mentioned above, at PlanetNLP.com I only recommends HypnosisDownloads.com. They have numerous recordings so if you are looking at a fairly generic issue then do go through the range before picking a specific recording as one may more more appropriate for you then the more generic recording. For instance HypnosisDownloads.com has over twenty recordings related to weight loss, and with an issue such as weight loss you may have a very particular issue that once resolved will solve the problem completely.

How regularly should you use a Self Hypnosis Program?

There has been research into learning that suggests that to learn a subject a student reads the information several times, increasing the gap between each session. So the student reads the information once every day for a few days, then once a week, then finally once a month until the information is considered known. This kind of structure fits the use of self hypnosis programs very well. A good approach is to listen to a recording every evening for a week, then once a week for a few weeks then once a month once good progress has been made.

You may find that listening to a recording every night is tough going and interferes with you getting a good nights sleep. In this case, every other night is far better than trying to listen every night and then giving up through lack of sleep. Personally I find listening to recordings every night gets a little hard going after two or three nights in a row.

Another approach is to use a hypnosis recording leading up to when that issue is most relevant. Of course this doesn't work for issues such as weight loss or smoking cessation, but if you need confidence for a specific event such as an interview or performance then the best approach is to start using the recording a couple of weeks before hand and then use it nightly as the event approaches.
